High-speed non-extending spindle
The headstock with non-extending spindle consists of an integrated drive unit that is built of a motor and a planetary gearbox. The drive unit is connected to a nitrided spindle, which is mounted using bearings with angular contact in the outer tube of the headstock. The bearings are lubricated by an oil-air system and the entire main bearing tube is actively cooled by a cooling unit.
Benefits
- High maximum speed for the application of high cutting parameters
-
Application of speed and productive milling
- A solution for universal and efficient machine use
- Unified solution for two machine sizes WHT 110 and WHT 130
Description
The WHT 110/130 machines are equipped with centrally guided headstocks (optimal in terms of uniform heat and force load on the frame). The headstock base is a massive plate that carries the outrigger, drive unit and other nodes. The working spindle is supported by bearings with angular contact in the outer tube. Bearings are lubricated by the oil-air system.
The maximum continuous speed is 7,500 rpm (WHT 110 and WHT 130 machines).
The machine thereby has very high spindle speeds with a maximum continuous torque of 1,245 Nm (S1).
Motivation
The technical solution of a non-extending spindle with the highest possible revolutions is a frequent requirement for modern machining methods.
Our goal was to solve these requirements and create a functional combination of the advantages of a standard boring machine and a modern machining centre designed for highly efficient modern machining methods.
